Motorcycle Video Blogging

I'm not trying to discourage people from vlogging. I just want people to realize it's not as easy as some think. I had a guy ask me to lend him money to buy a bike...so that he could vlog. And he said he'd pay me back with the money youtube paid him. Cough. So if there are people who even think it's half that easy......then this video is to explain that it's not to them.

Two years after Kawasaki stepped into the ring to face Suzuki, the ZX-14 and GSX1300R Hayabusa remain the only machines in a universe all their own. No literbike can match the asphalt-peeling 100 ft-lbs of torque that pours forth from these 1340cc-plus hyperbikes.

Minimalist Tubeless Motorcycle Tire Change Part II

Manual Tire Changing. In this video the point is made that you can get the bead to seat using a small pump or tankless air compressor -- it's just a matter of enough air pressure, often less than the final recommended running pressure. It is still prudent to find a place to change your tires in proximity to a high volume air compressor (with a tank) that can give you a good initial "puff" of air to help create a seal. There are some rear tire and rim combinations where it may be difficult to get the tire to begin to hold air with a small output pump, even after bouncing the wheel and/or strapping the circumference to initiate a seal.

World exclusive Ducati 848 Evo first ride coming up

Two months ahead of its official launch in Imola, MCN has got its hands on the new Ducati 848 Evo. Replacing the current 848, the 140bhp Evo has more power, a steering damper and Monobloc Brembos from the Ducati 1198R superbike.

Senior Road tester, Michael Neeves has tested Ducati's new mini-superbike on the track and road and says, "The 848 was already one of the best cornering bikes you can buy, with just the right balance between handling and power. The 848 Evo still has this magical balance but it's that bit sharper overall. It's right up there as one of the best sports bike I've ever tested."

Quitgas! Clean, Quiet, Fun, Electric Motorcycle

Update February 2009

Well, I am happy with this project except for one issue in order to service batteries and experiment with the bike, clear access to the batteries and electronics is needed. Unfortunately, removing the Ninja bodywork for this access requires removing the mirrors, front blinkers and windscreen, making the bike unsafe probably illegal to ride. The solution is some type of one-piece body that is easily removed and does not support the mirrors and blinkers. So back into the garage it goes! So far Ive tried several ideas for the bodywork all have been unsuccessful (or really ugly!). My goal is to be back on the road by Summer 09 with the new bodywork and updated batteries. Will update the video when completed! See ya then!

Note: if youre really interested in this bike, be sure to read through (all) the comments for a lot of information!

------------------------
ORIGINAL DESCRIPTION:
Backyard project to create a form of local transportation WITHOUT burning gasoline. Since I work within 5 miles of my home and do a lot of local running around, the idea was to leave the car at home and commute with clean, quiet electric power as much as possible.

Have been on the road only a few weeks -- still in the testing/adjusting phase, but so far it looks like this:

Bike has a lot (too much) low end torque so it is pretty quick from a standing start. However, the top speed right now is about 45mph. Since I started with a low 6:1 gear ratio, I have plenty of room to change gearing for more top speed -- however, since I use this locally (mostly on 35mph city streets), I don't really need much more speed. Also, I chose the Alltrax controller because it comes with free software so I can plug my laptop into the bike and adjust motor power, throttle curve, etc.

I'm currently using four 12 volt batteries for a 48 volt bike. Since this was an "experiment" and my first EV, I used the cheapest batteries I could find (Wal-Mart 85 ah Marine batteries at about $45 each). They are, however, working out well for now.

Plugs in to any standard 120 volt household outlet and takes about 6 hours to charge (not really sure since I plug it in at night and it's ready in the morning). The math says the range would be about 30 miles on a charge, but it's looking like much less than that right now. Again, actual numbers coming as soon as I complete testing and adjusting.

Total cost to build is about $2,800 which includes the cost of the original bike, the (all-new) motor and electronics, new tires, etc. Cost to run (electricity) should be about 2 cents per mile.

Some Details :

D&D SepEx Motor (about 45 ft-pd torque at 2000rpm)
400 Amp Alltrax Controller with PC link
Four 12 volt deep cycle marine batteries (Wal-Mart)
Four on-board battery chargers

More details coming soon. . . . . .

More details coming soon. . . . . .

How to Ride a Motorcycle for the Very First Time!

More info below in this video's description V V V

If you want more advice and videos about riding check out http://www.m13online.com

Alright, regarding the braking issue...a few people have said that you should learn to use both brakes from the beginning......and I agree. But just not the VERY beginning. Because the VERY FIRST time you use a bike it's confusing enough without two different brakes being thrown in....one of which if pulled too hard can drop the bike on it's side in a flash. So the point of this video is to learn how to use the clutch....and while focusing on that....it's best to just focus on that. And when coming to a complete stop.....you should be braking rear 90% and front 10%. Which is the opposite of how you brake when traveling at speed.

For Yamaha and Star Motorcycles, the VMax stands near the top of its bikes eligible for icon status. Engineers grappled with the concept of a rebirth of a legend. Star is positioning the new VMax at the edge of the expressive/aggressive personality of the modern cruiser category. As such, they use terms like hot rod, muscle, power and respect to describe what the VMax represents.

Honda Cub is the number one motorcycle in the world

Honda Cub is the number one motorcycle in the world
In this Discovery Channel program, there is a countdown of the best motorcycle ever. This video starts with the winner, the Honda CUB.

There are already 40 million Cubs build, making it the best selling motorcycle. This is a simple machine with a mass appeal and with its 4 Break Horsepower, it still manages to run 50 Mph.

To demonstrate the reliability of the Cub, the presentors dry to destroy it, using several methods:

Mess up the egine:
By draining all the oil and replacing it with normal cooking oil, the engine should crack up. Fortunate for the CUB it still manage to work even after riding a couple of miles.

Overload:
In the next effort to destroy the CUB, it was overloaded with 200 kilograms, which it could withstand flawlessly.

Drastic measures:
In the final attempt to kill the CUB, it was thrown of a 22 meters tall building. When the CUB collapses it hit the ground with a staggering 54 Mph speed.
Although part of the framework and the wheels get severely damaged, the true measure of its quality is to try to get the engine running... it may not surprise you that after inserting the ignition key and gently applying the kickstarter, this incredible strong vehicle starts without a cough.

In a final statement the presentor says that it would probably only gets destroyed by using C4 plastic explosive.

Because the Honda CUB is such a cheap, realiable, strong motorcycle, it is rewarded as the Number One motorcycle in the world

Full Review: http://www.motorcycle.com/shoot-outs/2010-bennche-megelli-250r-vs-ninja-250r-89918.html

For two bikes ostensibly in the same class, Kawasaki's Ninja 250R and Bennche's Megelli 250R are as different as can be.

One's been around as the only offering in its class since before some of its aspiring buyers were even born, and the other is an upstart that was practically born yesterday...

Third Eye Blind - Motorcycle Driveby

I made this for me, because this is one of my favorite bands, and favorite song of all time. enjoy
Lyrics -
Summer time and the wind is blowing outside
In lower Chelsea and I don't know
What I'm doing in this city
The sun is always in my eyes
It crashes through the windows
And I'm sleeping on the couch
When I came to visit you
That's when I knew
That I could never have you
I knew that before you did
Still I'm the one who's stupid

And there's this burning
Like there's always been
I've never been so alone
And I've never been so alive

Visions of you on a motorcycle drive by
The cigarette ash flies in your eyes
And you don't mind, you smile.
And say the world, it doesn't fit with you
I don't believe you, you're so serene
Careening through the universe
Your axis on a tilt, you're guiltless and free
I hope you take a piece of me with you

And there's things I would like to do
That you don't believe in
I would like to build something
But you'll never see it happen

And there's this burning
Like there's always been
I've never been so alone
And I've, I've never been so alive

And there's this burning, aaa-oh
There is this burning, yeah yeah yeah

Where's the soul I want to know
New York City is evil
The surface is everything
But I could never do that
Someone would see through that

And this is our last time
We'll be friends again
I'll get over you, you'll wonder who I am

And there's this burning
Just like there's always been
I've never been so alone, alone
And I, and I, I've never been so alive
So alive

I go home to the coast
It starts to rain I paddle out on the water, alone
Taste the salt and taste the pain
I'm not thinking of you again

Summer dies and swells rise
The sun goes down in my eyes
See this rolling wave
Darkly coming to take me home

And I've never been so alone
And I've never been so alive
